🧭 Identity & Royal Commission

Yoshiyahu ben Amon was the 16th king of the Southern Kingdom of Yahuḏah, reigning for 31 years in Yerushalayim. Scripture records of him the highest praise given to any monarch:

“And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to Yahuah with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Mosheh; neither after him arose there any like him.” (2 Melakim 23:25)

  • The Rediscovered Torah (2 Melakim 22:8–13): In 622 BAY (Year 3381 AM), during temple repairs, High Priest Hilkiah uncovered the ancient scroll of the Law (Sefer HaTorah). Hearing its statutory warnings, Yoshiyahu rent his garments, consulted Huldah the prophetess, and renewed the covenant with the entire nation.
  • The 300-Year Bethel Oracle Fulfilled (2 Melakim 23:15–18): Three centuries after an unnamed prophet cried against Jeroboam’s golden calf altar (1 Melakim 13:2), naming Yoshiyahu by name before he was born, Yoshiyahu pulverized the altar and burned the bones of false priests upon it.
  • The Megiddo Martyrdom (2 Dibre HaYamim 35:20–25): In 609 BAY, he intercepted Pharaoh Necho II at Megiddo, was mortally struck by archers, and his death precipitated the terminal collapse of the Southern Kingdom.
