✦ STEP 2: FALSE HOLIDAYS VS. YAHUAH’S MOEDIM ✦

The Calendar Principle

“Yahuah has a planner. Rome took a black marker, scratched His dates out, and wrote their own festivals over them.”
We do not celebrate the traditions of empires; we walk in the everlasting appointments of the Creator.

Detailed Breakdown of Counterfeits

False HolidayHistorical Origin & Pagan DeityUnmasked Rituals & SymbolsScriptural Condemnation
Christmas (Dec 25)Saturnalia (Roman god Saturn) & Sol Invictus (Unconquered Sun god). Nimrod / Tammuz rebirth.Evergreen tree (cutting/decorating), mistletoe (fertility potion), Yule log (sun worship), gift exchange.Jeremiah 10:2–5 (“Learn not the way of the heathen… cut a tree out of the forest, deck it with silver and gold”). Flocks were not in open fields in winter (Luke 2:8).
Easter (Spring)Ishtar / Inanna / Astarte / Eostre (Babylonian and Anglo-Saxon goddess of dawn, sex, and fertility).Rabbits (ancient symbol of rampant copulation), colored eggs (Babylonian egg of Semiramis), sunrise services facing East.Ezekiel 8:16 (Men with their backs toward the temple, worshipping the sun toward the East). Scripture commands Pesach, not Easter.
New Year’s Day (Jan 1)Janus (Two-faced Roman god of doorways, transitions, and beginnings).Drunken revelry, midnight bells, kissing at stroke of midnight to ward off demons. The scriptural New Year begins in the Spring (Month 1, Day 1 / Tekufah of Aviv), when life sprouts from the earth (Exodus 12:2). Dead winter is not the start of life.
Halloween (Oct 31)Samhain (Celtic Lord of the Dead). Ancient Druid festival of human sacrifices, bonfires, and wandering ghosts.Costumes/masks (to hide from demons), Jack-o’-Lanterns (carved skulls to ward spirits), Trick-or-Treat (demanding food for household protection).Deuteronomy 18:10–12 (“There shall not be found among you any that consults with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer”).
Valentine’s Day (Feb 14)Lupercalia (Roman festival honoring Faunus/Pan and Romulus & Remus). Priests sacrificed goats and whipped women with bloody hides to induce fertility.Cupid (Eros, Greek god of erotic desire), hearts, chocolate offerings, red roses.Leviticus 18:3 (“After the doings of the land of Egypt and Canaan shall you not do”).
Lent (40 Days)The ancient Babylonian mourning period for the death of Tammuz before his supposed spring resurrection.Fasting from meat, marking foreheads with ash crosses (the Tau of Tammuz).Ezekiel 8:14 (“And behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. Then said He unto me, Hast thou seen this, O son of man?”).
Thanksgiving (Fall)Ceres / Demeter (Roman/Greek corn & harvest deities). The Cornucopia is literally the “Horn of Plenty” of the goat Amalthea who nursed Zeus.Feasting centered on the horn of Amalthea; Roman harvest festival syncretism.Yahuah’s harvest celebration is Sukkot (Feast of Ingathering), not Roman harvest rites.

2. The 7 Commanded Appointments (The Moedim)

These are found in Leviticus 23 and are anchored in the uncorrupted 364-Day Creation Solar Calendar:

AppointmentHebrew NameTiming on 364-Day Solar CycleCovenant Meaning & Prophetic Fulfillment
1. PassoverPesachMonth 1, Day 14 (Yom Shelishi / Evening)The slaughter of the spotless lamb; protection from the destroyer. Fulfilled by the blood of Yahusha Ha’Mashiach.
2. Unleavened BreadChag HaMatzotMonth 1, Day 15 – 21 (7 Days)Purging the leaven of false doctrine, hypocrisy, and sin. Walking in truth and sincerity.
3. First FruitsBikkurimMonth 1, Day 26 (Yom Rishon)The first wave sheaf of barley. Fulfilled by Yahusha’s physical resurrection from the dust as the Firstborn from the dead.
4. Feast of Weeks / OathsShavuotMonth 3, Day 15 (Yom Rishon)The giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai; the renewing of covenants; the outpouring of the Ruach HaKodesh.
5. Day of TrumpetsYom TeruahMonth 7, Day 1 (Yom Revi’i)The awakening blast of the shofar; gathering the scattered remnant; warning of coming judgment.
6. Day of AtonementYom KippurMonth 7, Day 10 (Yom Shishi / Evening)Complete fast; afflicting the soul; cleansing of the sanctuary; ultimate reckoning before the courtroom of Yahuah.
7. Feast of TabernaclesSukkotMonth 7, Day 15 – 22 (8 Days)Dwelling in temporary booths; rejoicing in the harvest; celebrating the true time of Yahusha’s birth and His future reign on the renewed earth.

3. The Remnant Standard: Immediate Family Protocol

  1. Step Out of the Matrix: No Christmas trees, no Easter eggs, no Halloween decorations, no Valentine cards.
  2. Remove the Syncretism: Do not attempt to “Christianize” pagan holidays. Yahuah explicitly commands: “Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them… saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. You shall not do so unto Yahuah your Elohim!” (Deuteronomy 12:30–31).
  3. Align with the Moedim: Track and observe the 7 true appointments on the 364-day solar calendar.

4. Courtroom Cross-Examination (Oral Defense Q&A)

Use these questions and answers to teach your family or defend the truth when questioned:

Question 1: “Can’t we just ‘put Christ back into Christmas’?”

  • The Defense:
    1. Yahusha was never in Christmas to begin with. December 25 was celebrated across the ancient Roman Empire as Natalis Solis Invicti (The Birthday of the Unconquered Sun) and the festival of Saturnalia.
    2. Yahusha was born in the autumn during the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), when shepherds were still living in the open fields with their flocks at night (Luke 2:8)—which never occurs in the freezing Judean winter.
    3. Adorning evergreen trees with gold and silver is explicitly condemned in Jeremiah 10:1–5 as the vain customs of the heathen.

Question 2: “What is wrong with celebrating Easter if we are celebrating the resurrection?”

  • The Defense:
    1. The name “Easter” is the phonetic name of Ishtar / Astarte / Ostara, the Babylonian and Germanic goddess of fertility and dawn.
    2. Eggs and rabbits are universal ancient fertility symbols honoring Ishtar, completely foreign to the resurrection of Yahusha.
    3. Yahusha rose on the biblical feast of Firstfruits (Bikkurim) in direct alignment with Leviticus 23, fulfilling the prophecy of the Firstborn from the dead (1 Corinthians 15:20).

Question 3: “Are the biblical Feasts in Leviticus 23 only for Jewish people?”

  • The Defense:
    1. In Leviticus 23:2, Yahuah explicitly calls them: “The feasts of YAHUAH… even these are MY feasts”—not the feasts of the Jews.
    2. In Zechariah 14:16–19, the prophet states that during the Millennial reign of Yahusha, all nations on earth will be commanded to come up to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot), or suffer drought. They are eternal covenant appointments.
